Hailey Bieber is pushing back on fans who said Justin Bieber’s Coachella 2026 debut as a headliner fell flat, calling the first weekend “such a special weekend” and saying she was “SO proud.” In an April 13 Instagram carousel from the desert, she wrote that nobody will ever know “even an ounce” of what it took to get there and ended by saying, “let’s do it all again!!!!”
The post included a photo of Hailey and Justin Bieber holding their son, Jack Blues Bieber, at Coachella, along with shots of her and Jack dancing while Justin sound-checked in an empty field. Jack wore a custom Inked by Dani temporary tattoo reading “Bieberchella” inside a barbed-wire heart, a small family joke that landed squarely inside a weekend many online viewers judged much more harshly.
That split has defined the response to the show. Some fans criticized Bieber for not doing enough on the desert stage, while others said he seemed genuinely happy and treated the set like a victory lap after years away from a major full-length performance. His appearance marked his first major, full-set performance since the Justice World Tour ended in 2022, and he is set to return to the Coachella stage on April 25 for weekend two.
He also leaned into his own catalog in a way that gave the night a more intimate feel. During the performance, Bieber sang along to his original YouTube videos and performed “Everything Hallelujah,” later singing, “Mom and Dad, hallelujah,” “Hailey babe, hallelujah,” and “Baby Jack, hallelujah.” For some viewers, that was the point. For others, it was not enough for a headliner debut.
Hailey reinforced her defense by reposting a TikTok review from Gabby Windey, who said she thought Bieber’s set was perfect and that he did more than enough. Windey said the YouTube DJ section felt like watching music videos in a living room with Bieber holding the clicker, and she called it intimate, connecting and romantic. Lauren Alaina also chimed in, writing, “He showed up…? Like that’s enough for me honey.”
The real tension is between what fans expected from a Coachella headliner and what Bieber chose to deliver. His first headlining set at the festival was always going to be judged against scale, not sentiment, but the family-centered response from Hailey and the mixed fan reaction suggest the performance was less about spectacle than about where Bieber is in his life now. Weekend two will show whether the same stripped-back approach plays any better when he returns on April 25.
