Sullivan's Crossing is coming back in April 2026 on The CW, and Morgan Kohan is making the case that season 4 is the show’s strongest run yet. Kohan and Chad Michael Murray are both returning for the new season, which went into production in summer 2025 after CTV confirmed the renewal in June 2025. Scott Patterson is not coming back.
The timing matters because the series has spent the last year turning a steady audience into a much larger one. Netflix picked up the first two seasons two months after the most recent season premiered in Canada and the United States in 2025, giving the show a broader reach just as it was moving into its next chapter. Kohan said in August 2025 that she was “beyond proud” to be going back for season 4 with “such an amazing cast and crew,” and she added that “season 4 truly feels like our best yet.”
That momentum was already visible earlier in the year. In May 2025, Kohan posted about the show’s growing profile, including a billboard at Yonge and Dundas Square, and said it felt surreal to see the response as the first two seasons arrived on Netflix and the third season rolled out in Canada and then the United States. Robyn Carr, whose best-selling novel series inspired the drama, also confirmed the renewal on Facebook in June 2025.
There is a wrinkle built into the new season that changes the shape of the story. A trailer released in March 2026 pointed to a love triangle involving Cal, Maggie and Maggie’s secret husband, Liam, giving season 4 a sharper emotional conflict than the previous run. Roma Roth said the story is “a journey for Maggie to figure out” and asked how she can “marry both sides of yourself” without giving one up, which signals that the show is leaning harder into Maggie’s divided life rather than simply extending the romance fans have already been following.
Sullivan's Crossing follows Boston neurosurgeon Maggie Sullivan as she returns to Nova Scotia, reconnects with her estranged father Harry “Sully” Sullivan, and tries to keep her personal life from pulling apart under legal trouble and her growing connection to Cal Jones. Based on Carr’s novels, the series has spent three seasons building that central pull between home, duty and desire. Season 4 now has a clear answer to the question of where the story goes next: straight into the complication Maggie has been hiding, with Liam’s presence forcing the show’s biggest choice yet.
