Javier Colon is heading back to The Voice for a one-night All-Star Showdown that brings the show’s past winners and finalists back into the spotlight. The episode airs April 6 at 9/8c on NBC and will stream on Peacock the next day.
For Colon, the appearance marks a return to the series that made him history in 2011, when he won season 1 as a member of Team Adam Levine. He said he is “really excited about it,” a fitting reaction for the singer who was the first-ever winner of the franchise and is now stepping back onto the same stage more than a decade later.
That first run changed the course of his career. After the win, Colon joined Levine on tour with Maroon 5 and Train in 2011, later reuniting with Maroon 5 for additional performances. He kept recording as well, releasing his third album, Come Through For You, in 2012 after putting out two albums under the name Javier. His most recent album, Gravity, arrived in 2016.

Colon’s return comes as The Voice frames season 29’s Battle of Champions as a special competition built around former standouts. The All-Star Showdown lineup also includes Jordan Smith, Jake Hoot, Girl Named Tom, Maelyn Jarmon and Renzo, giving the episode a roster stacked with familiar names from across the show’s history.
Even away from the series, Colon has kept performing. His recent work has included singles such as The Moon and More and Clear the Air, and he has appeared internationally, including shows in Mexico and Barbados as part of the 2025 Barbados Jazz Excursion lineup. He said the material he has been working on reflects him more directly as an artist, adding that he had creative control over the songs and is proud of them.

That makes this return more than a nostalgia play. Colon is not just revisiting the show that launched him; he is reintroducing himself to viewers who may know him as The Voice’s first champion but not as the artist he has continued to build since then. The episode on April 6 will answer the simplest question left from that 2011 breakthrough: what does the original winner sound like now?
