Simu Liu helped set Marvel fans buzzing after reposting Robert Downey Jr.’s Easter-themed artwork on his Instagram story and adding character headshots over the decorated eggs. The image, first shared by Downey, paired symbols for the New Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic Four, Black Panther, Namor and Shang-Chi, while two other marks were quickly linked by fans to Doctor Strange and Spider-Man.
The reaction was immediate on X, where one user wrote, “At this point can I call this confirmed lol look at Simu Liu’s Instagram story,” and another asked whether Liu had shared the meaning behind each egg from Downey’s post, calling out Doctor Strange and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. For fans following Marvel Avengers Doomsday, the post felt less like holiday decoration and more like a clue board.
Downey is set to play Victor Von Doom in Avengers: Doomsday, which is scheduled for release on December 18, and Benedict Cumberbatch is already part of the ensemble cast. Liu’s overlay did not make any official announcement, but it pushed an online guessing game into sharper focus by visually pairing actors with the symbols tied to their characters.

That matters because Doctor Strange and Spider-Man have long been rumored for the film, even though neither role has been officially confirmed. The Easter artwork gave fans a fresh reason to think those names belong on the call sheet, but the studio has not said so. The trades have also noted that reshoots are routine in Marvel’s process, leaving room for additional cast members to be added closer to release.
For now, the clearest answer is that Liu’s story did not confirm the cast — it amplified a set of hints that fans already believed pointed to a larger Avengers: Doomsday lineup, with April 7, 2026, adding another date to the long-running speculation around the film.
