KATSEYE got a quick boost backstage at this year’s Grammys when the group ran into Tyler, The Creator, and Lara Raj says he told them they were good. Raj said the members were walking through the backstage area when Tyler came out of his dressing room and stopped to speak with them.
“Dude, Tyler, The Creator told us that we were good,” Raj said in the newest episode of Instagram’s original series Close Friends Only with Larray. She added, “We were walking in the backstage, he came out of his dressing room. He was like, ‘You guys did so good.'” The exchange landed as one of the night’s standout memories for the group, which also discussed the artists they hope to work with next.
The Grammys moment came up alongside another recent fan encounter. Sophia Laforteza said KATSEYE met Ariana Grande at the 2025 MTV VMAs, and that she broke down the moment it happened. “I actually started crying. And I don’t cry,” Laforteza said. She also recalled, “You know that whole thing where you’re like, ‘Don’t meet your idols’? But then I did meet my idol and she just made me feel so seen.”
That mix of nerves and praise framed the group’s larger conversation about collaborators. Daniela Avanzini named Tyler, The Creator as one of the artists she wants to work with and said, “Tyler, The Creator, too. I really love him. He’s, like, one of my fav artists.” She also said, “I want to collab recently with Bad Bunny because he’s just fire.”
For KATSEYE, the backstage Grammys greeting was more than a celebrity brush-by. It doubled as an unexpected validation from an artist Avanzini already has on her wishlist, and it left Tyler, The Creator not just as a memorable encounter, but as part of the group’s next chapter of dream collaborations.
