Nick Offerman has joined the cast of Alex Garland’s Elden Ring film, with production set to begin this week. The actor joined the project in Scotland, adding another recognizable name to a cast that already includes Kit Connor, Ben Whishaw and Cailee Spaeny.
Offerman’s addition gives the adaptation another familiar face as A24 moves the project toward a 2027 release. More cast announcements are expected in the coming days, suggesting the ensemble is still being built as cameras prepare to roll.
The new film is based on Elden Ring, the 2022 game co-created with George R. R. Martin that sold more than 30 million copies worldwide. That scale helps explain why the adaptation is drawing attention before a frame has been shot, and why the studio is treating it as one of its bigger bets.
For Offerman, the casting keeps him in Garland’s orbit after he played the U.S. President in Civil War in 2023. The move also underscores how the director is leaning on actors who can anchor large-scale material without making it feel bloated, a useful trait for a fantasy world that already has a built-in audience.
The question now is how far Garland and A24 push the lineup before production gets fully underway. With filming set to start this week in Scotland and more names expected soon, the adaptation is moving from concept to a project with real momentum.
