Craig Melvin accidentally let slip on the Today show on April 8 that Jenna Bush Hager has a cameo in The Devil Wears Prada 2, turning a chat about the sequel into an on-air reveal. Savannah Guthrie and Al Roker laughed as Bush Hager sat visibly shocked, trying to stop the moment from spreading any further.
Melvin set it off with a tease about the movie and then delivered the line that gave it away: “You know how I can tell? JBH is in it!” Bush Hager shot back, “I don’t know that you were supposed to drop that bomb, but if you’re…,” while Guthrie cut in, “This is live. You cannot tell Craig anything!” Roker piled on with, “It is now!” and Melvin tried to clean up the mess with, “Cut it out for the other feeds! Sorry about that JBH,” before Guthrie jabbed, “Why don’t you read your journal while you’re at it?” and Melvin answered, “My bad!”
The sequel is set to hit theaters on May 1 and is being billed as a highly anticipated follow-up to the 2006 film, with Meryl Streep back as Miranda Priestly and Anne Hathaway returning as Andy Sachs. Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci are also part of the cast, which gives the project the kind of star power that makes even a brief cameo worth talking about.

What remains unknown is the part Bush Hager will actually play. That detail matters because the Today host is not just a casual fan of the franchise; she previously dressed as former Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour opposite Guthrie’s Miranda Priestly for the show’s Halloween episode in 2025, a nod to the real-life figure widely understood to have inspired the character at the center of the story. Melvin’s slip did not answer the last question about her role, but it did confirm she is in the film — and that is news enough for the audience waiting for May 1.
