Fox has renewed Memory of a Killer for a second season in 2026-27, moving quickly after the drama aired its season finale on Monday night. The pickup keeps Patrick Dempsey’s Angelo — a hitman living a double life while losing his memory — at the center of a series that built enough momentum to earn another run.
The renewal comes after said the show grew to 16.2 million cross-platform viewers after its premiere in January, when it followed the NFC Championship game. Later Monday episodes did not match that level, but the series also posted solid returns on Hulu, giving Fox a broader case for the pickup than the weekly broadcast numbers alone.
Dempsey stars with Michael Imperioli, Richard Harmon and Odeya Rush, while Daniel David Stewart and Peter Gadiot also star and Gina Torres has a recurring role. Fox Television Network president Michael Thorn called the drama a true standout, pointing to the visceral performances from Dempsey and Imperioli and saying showrunners Aaron Zelman and Glenn Kessler, along with Warner Bros. Television, delivered a sharp, emotional character-driven thriller that connected with viewers. Channing Dungey said the renewal was richly deserved, citing the show’s critical, creative and commercial success and saying the team has more in store for Angelo’s next chapter.

Memory of a Killer is based on a novel and the 2003 Belgian film De Zaak Alzheimer, and the first season was a co-production between Fox and Warner Bros. TV. Zelman and Kessler stepped in midway through production on the first season and will remain as showrunners for season two, a sign Fox is betting on continuity after a chaotic start. That confidence is also reflected behind the camera, where the pair executive produce with Dempsey, Arthur Sarkissian, Martin Campbell and Peter Bouckaert of Eyeworks.
The question now is not whether Fox believes in the show, but whether it can turn a strong launch into a steadier audience on Mondays. The answer from the network is already clear: for now, it is giving Angelo another season to keep the case alive.
