Paramount+ has renewed Canada Shore for a second season, with cameras set to roll this summer on the shores of Kelowna, British Columbia. The streamer said the new run is open to 19- to 26-year-olds in Canada, though no launch date has been set.
The renewal comes after the first season launched in January and delivered the biggest lift in Canadian Paramount+ subscriptions of any show on the service, according to the streamer. It also generated viral moments and drew praise from Brianna Chickenfry and Cody Ko, helping the series break through quickly with its audience.
For Paramount+, the decision was straightforward. Katrina Kowalski said renewing Canada Shore was “an easy choice” and called the series a fan favourite, saying its cast may not fit “stereotypical polite Canadian-ness” but has hearts “much bigger than the chaos they bring.”
Canada Shore is the first Canadian version of the MTV franchise that made Jersey Shore and Geordie Shore global names, and it is produced by Blue Ant-backed Insight Productions. Filming in Kelowna gives the show its own distinctly Canadian backdrop, but the formula remains familiar: 20-somethings, big personalities and the kind of messy moments that travel fast online.
The unanswered piece now is timing. Season 2 is happening this summer, but viewers will have to wait for Paramount+ to say when the new episodes will arrive.
