Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has not been given a release date, but the game now appears to be moving closer to a public reveal after a new age rating surfaced and a reliable insider said media are set to see it this week. Insider Gaming reported the announcement is scheduled for April 16, while other reporting says the remake could land sometime from June to August this year.
The Indonesian Game Rating System has rated the title 18+, adding another sign that the project is progressing behind the scenes. Ubisoft has also shared an official piece of concept art for the remake, which its description says will follow Edward Kenway through the 18th Century Caribbean, with parkour in cities and battles at sea. The same description says the remake will feature new characters and new stories.
That sets the stage for a fresh look at one of Ubisoft’s most recognisable pirate-era games. The original Black Flag, released in 2013, featured Edward Thatch, better known as Blackbeard, as a supporting character and included one of the series’ most quoted lines: “In a world without gold, we might’ve been heroes!”
Darby McDevitt later said the line was written to give Blackbeard a final line that captured the central theme of Black Flag’s story. He said the original script version read, “In a world without wine, women, and gold, we might have been heroes!”
The leak cycle has not settled the one fact players most want: Ubisoft still has not announced a release date for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. But the combination of the 18+ rating, the concept art, and the reports of an April 16 announcement suggests the remake is far enough along to be shown publicly soon, even if the actual launch window remains a summer target rather than a confirmed date.
NateTheHate2 said media and press are set to see the remake this week and added, “I assume a public reveal will be the same day; but could happen in the days following.” If that holds, the next answer will not be whether Black Flag Resynced exists, but how much Ubisoft is ready to show before it reaches players later this year.
