Gracie Hunt announced on April 4 that she is engaged to Derek Green, the son of former Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Trent Green, after an outdoor proposal she shared with her followers on Instagram.
The 27-year-old daughter of Chiefs CEO Clark Hunt posted multiple photos from the celebration, which took place on a wooden deck lined with white candles and flowers. Green proposed in a light gray suit, while Hunt wore a white floor-length dress and showed off an emerald-cut ring with diamonds along the band and a single emerald green stone.
Her caption was short and direct: “It was always you,” she wrote. Green answered in the comments with “FOREVER AND EVER.” The couple were joined by loved ones for the engagement celebration, turning the proposal into a family moment as much as a romantic one.

The engagement also drew public congratulations from both families. Julie Green wrote that she was “Couldn’t be happier to gain another daughter!!” and added, “Congratulations D and G! Love you both so much!!” Tavia Hunt replied, “DREAMS DO COME TRUE!!”
Hunt and Green had already made their relationship Instagram official in May, and she said in August that they had known each other their whole lives. She said they played together as babies during the Chiefs’ Christmas parties every year, then reconnected as adults in 2017 when they met on the sidelines pregame. “Have been inseparable ever since,” she said.

That long connection gives the engagement a hometown, football-family feel that fits both sides of the relationship. Hunt works in brand development and marketing for the Chiefs and was formerly Miss Kansas USA. Green is the son of Trent Green, who spent five of his 15 NFL seasons as the Chiefs quarterback.
What comes next is the kind of public milestone the families have already embraced: a wedding for two people whose lives had been linked long before the proposal, and whose announcement made that bond official to everyone else.
