Sony said at Cinemacon 2026 that an R-rated animated feature film based on Bloodborne is in the works, with Seán William McLoughlin, better known as Jacksepticeye, producing the project. The announcement suggests the Bloodborne movie is headed for theaters.
That is a notable return for one of PlayStation’s most beloved gothic horror games, which first arrived in 2015 as a PlayStation 4 exclusive from From Software. The source frames the new film as a comeback for a title that has been absent from the spotlight for 11 years.
Bloodborne is set in the fantastical Victorian city of Yharnam after an unspeakable tragedy, where a monstrous plague turns much of the population into deranged zombified townsfolk, werewolf-like creatures and other horrors. Players control one of the mostly wiped-out Hunters, trying to bring order to a city already collapsing around them.
The new film now has to translate that grim world into animation without losing what made the game stand out in the first place: atmosphere, menace and scale. Sony has given no further details in the announcement, but the Cinemacon reveal makes one thing plain — Bloodborne is finally coming back, and this time it is coming to the screen.
