Sony debuted the first trailer for Insidious: Out of the Further on April 13, 2026, at its CinemaCon presentation, giving the horror franchise its sixth film and a fresh way back into The Further. Amelia Eve stars as Gemma, a young mother raising her daughter in the house she grew up in, and the trailer opens with a horrifying dental exam before the nightmare expands.
Gemma discovers that she can travel into The Further, the purgatorial realm of lost souls that drives the Insidious universe, and that she can do more than enter it: she can bring what lives there back to the real world. Jacob Chase is writing and directing the film, with Lin Shaye returning as Elise Rainier and Brandon Perea also in the cast. Sony Pictures president of domestic distribution Adam Bergerman told the audience the movie is the most terrifying in the franchise.
The new installment arrives after 2023's Insidious: The Red Door, the most recent entry in a series that has taken in more than $740 million at the global box office. CinemaCon, the annual gathering of cinema owners and Hollywood studios hosted in Las Vegas by Cinema United, formerly the National Association of Theatre Owners, runs April 13-16, making the trailer debut one of the convention's early attention-grabbers.
That timing matters because Sony is using the showcase to reset one of its most reliable horror brands before the film's theatrical release on Aug. 21, 2026. The setup gives Gemma a direct line into the series' core mythology, but the real hook is simpler and darker: this time, the thing in The Further does not stay there.
