Lauren Sánchez Bezos says she and Jeff Bezos begin each day at 6 a.m. by writing down 10 things they are grateful for, a ritual she says leaves her “20 percent” happier than the average person and even more so since the two got together.
After the lists are done, the couple heads into an east-facing sunroom in their home on an exclusive island just north of Miami Beach known as the Billionaire Bunker, drinks coffee and watches the sunrise. Sánchez Bezos’ cup reads “Woke Up Sexy as Hell Again,” while Bezos’ says “HUNK,” written with symbols from the periodic table. Then come pickleball, a workout in their private gym with a trainer, and one day a week off from the routine.
The 56-year-old gave the details in a New York Times profile that also underscored how closely the pair’s personal life has stayed in the spotlight since their lavish $50 million wedding in Venice last June. That ceremony, featured in Vogue, drew Oprah Winfrey, Barbra Streisand, Kim Kardashian and Ivanka Trump, but also protests across the city over overtourism.

The timing matters because Bezos and Sánchez Bezos have stayed at the center of public attention even as they expand their profile. They were announced as the lead sponsors for the 2026 Met Gala, and that drew criticism online. Bezos also owns The Washington Post, and he faced backlash in February after firing over 300 journalists there.

Sánchez Bezos declined to address the newspaper cuts directly. “I was a journalist, and I know how important journalism is. But I don’t make those business decisions, so I really can’t answer them,” she said. The answer leaves the couple in a familiar place: polished, public and still facing questions about how their wealth, influence and private rituals sit beside the institutions and city streets they keep touching.
