Cardi B turned two sold-out Madison Square Garden shows into a family affair and a raunchy celebration, capping back-to-back New York performances on Wednesday, March 25 and Thursday, March 26 with the kind of unscripted banter that has long defined her live shows.
The 33-year-old rapper’s mother and father were both in the audience on Wednesday, and she used the moment to apologize for talking about fucking and popping pussy on stage. A day later, with her father absent but her mother still in attendance, she leaned harder into the crowd, telling fans, “My daddy ain’t here tonight, so I think I could pop this pussy,” before adding, “I’m giving y’all all I got.”
That second night also brought a line that summed up the mood inside the Garden: “So take a shot, this is not the Cardi concert, bitch, this is the muthafuckin' Cardi party, bitch.” She kept pushing the crowd along, saying, “Take that muthafuckin' shot and text that n***a, ' f**k you.'” Then, remembering her mother was watching, she cut herself off and laughed, “Let me stop 'cause my mom is here,” before joking that her mother would say, “Bitch, you better not bring no other muthafuckin' kid in this house. You wanna go on tour and leave all muthafuckin' four kids in my muthafuckin' care, bitch.” She ended that aside with, “Sorry, mom, I love you.”

The New York stops mattered because they were not just another pair of arena dates. They came as part of Cardi B’s Little Miss Drama Tour, and the shows gave fans a rare look at a performer balancing profanity, family and spectacle in the same breath. On Wednesday, her two oldest children, 7-year-old Kulture and 4-year-old Wave, briefly appeared near the end of the show and greeted the crowd, adding to a night that also featured Lil’ Kim performing “Quiet Storm (Remix)” and Cash Cobain performing “Fisherrr” and “Hoes Be Mad.”
There is friction in that mix, and it is the reason these shows linger. Cardi B apologized on Wednesday for sexual language, then the next night doubled down when her father was not there, turning the absence into part of the joke and showing how little distance she keeps between the stage and her personal life. The contrast is plain: one night a family witness to the apology, the next night a family witness to the punch line.

After New York, the Little Miss Drama Tour is scheduled to go on to Newark, Toronto, Boston and Baltimore before wrapping up with a two-night run at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena on April 17 and 18. The answer to the question raised by the Garden shows is already on the calendar: Cardi B is still playing this tour the same way she played New York, with big crowds, blunt talk and no sign she plans to clean it up for the road ahead.
