says a missed connection on Craigslist is what led him to the man he would later marry, turning a quick errand outside a Berkeley Walgreens into the start of a nearly 19-year relationship.

The 56-year-old actor told the story in February 2024 on , saying he saw walking out of a Walgreens in Berkeley, California, while he was going in to shop for a face mask. The two kept making eye contact, Domingo said, but nothing happened then. He checked his watch at 8:03 p.m. and told himself to be back at the same place at the same time the next week.

Three days later, Domingo said he was trying to buy a used computer and scrolling through Craigslist when he thought he might place a Missed Connections ad. Instead, he found one that read, “Saw you outside of Walgreens Berkeley.” Domingo said Raúl had posted it two hours earlier, and described him with his fauxhawk. Their first date happened three days later, and Domingo said Raúl asked him to stay over after the date.

Domingo said he agreed, but only after drawing a line: “Sure but let’s just cuddle.” He said the night ended with him telling Raúl, “I think I love you and you’re about to change my life.” By 2014, the two were married, and Domingo said they have now been together almost 19 years.

The retelling landed as part of a television appearance tied to a different milestone: Domingo said he will make his hosting debut on April 11. But the story he chose to share was less about promotion than provenance, a public explanation of how one of Hollywood’s busiest actors ended up with the husband he still describes as life-changing.

For Domingo, the details matter because they turn a familiar modern-romance trope into something more specific and lasting: a face mask purchase, a Craigslist post, and a second chance he gave himself by going back at exactly the right hour.
