Sheriff Country is bringing back two familiar faces in a bigger way. Amanda Arcuri and Ian Quinlan will be series regulars when the sheriff country cast returns for its second season.
Arcuri has played Skye since season 1, and the role sits at the center of one of the show’s most personal story lines. Skye is the daughter of Sheriff Mickey Fox and her ex-husband Travis Fraley, and she is trying to reclaim her life after emerging from under suspicion in the killing of her boyfriend. She also works for the Fraley family business with her Aunt Miranda.
Quinlan will also move into a larger role as Hank, a brash, impulsive deputy with a sharp sense of humor. Hank has a friendly, if intense, rivalry with Deputy Cassidy Campbell, and he helps Cassidy investigate the disappearance of several young women. The expanded casting gives the series a clearer stake in both the family drama and the police work that drive it.
That matters because Sheriff Country has become one of CBS’ stronger Friday-night performers. The show and Fire Country have helped anchor the network’s lineup, and Sheriff Country took over its slot from SWAT. It is up 52% in seven-day viewing versus SWAT, and it has become the second most-watched new series on broadcast TV this season after Marshals.
Sheriff Country is a Fire Country spinoff that follows sheriff Mickey Fox, played by Morena Baccarin, in Edgewater. The series also includes Mickey’s ex-con father Wes, an off-the-grid marijuana grower, and a mysterious incident involving her wayward daughter. With Arcuri and Quinlan now elevated to regulars, the show is doubling down on the characters and conflicts that have already helped make it one of CBS’ most reliable Friday-night draws.
