Bridgerton has added three new cast members as production continues on its fifth season, which will focus on the love story of Francesca Bridgerton and Michaela Stirling. Tega Alexander will play Christopher Anderson, Jacqueline Boatswain has been cast as Helen Stirling and Gemma Knight Jones will join as Lady Elizabeth Ashworth.
Christopher is described as a Regency-era Casanova and the son of Lord Anderson, while Helen is Michaela Stirling’s mother. Lady Elizabeth is an old friend of Michaela’s who serves as her confidante and London guide, giving the new season a trio of characters built around the story at its center.
Netflix renewed bridgerton for a fifth and sixth season in May 2025, but the streamer did not initially say which sibling would anchor each one. That changed last month, when it unveiled a first-look teaser for the fifth season, said production had started in the UK on the eight-episode run and revealed that Francesca would be paired with Michaela. Francesca had already been teased as the likely lead during the Season 4 rollout before the March 24 confirmation.

The new casting also sharpens the line of succession inside the series, which is based on Julia Quinn’s romance novels about the eight Bridgerton siblings. Season 4, released in two parts on Netflix between January and February, followed Benedict Bridgerton and Sophie Baek, leaving Eloise, Gregory and Hyacinth as the remaining siblings whose love stories are still ahead.
The added roles make clear that Season 5 is not just expanding the world around Francesca and Michaela; it is building the social circle that will carry their story through the season, while the rest of the family waits its turn.
