Jo said the company believes sports fandom is forever, and said the first WrestleMania on the App should give couples bound by a shared love of WWE a way to begin their next chapter by embracing what they love together. The setup comes with a wrinkle: The Miz is not scheduled for a match at WrestleMania 42. Instead, he is taking part in the weekend’s lead-up by turning the spotlight on wedding bells rather than the ring, and even fans who are not selected can still attend the ceremonies.
That makes the event more than a novelty. It is a piece of WrestleMania season built around the audience itself, with the most recognizable face in the promotion helping turn a one-day publicity stunt into a very public celebration of fandom.
