The Voice Season 30 has added Riley Green as a brand-new coach, bringing the country singer into the competition alongside Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine. Green shared Clarkson’s voicemail on Instagram after the announcement, and Clarkson told him she was “stoked” to coach with him.
In the voicemail, Clarkson said she had not met Green yet but was super excited to work alongside him, adding that she was a big fan of his music and thought it was “so good.” She also warned him, with trademark bluntness, that “team Kelly’s gonna whoop that ass.” Green replied in his caption that maybe now they all could start referring to him as coach, and said he was excited to see everyone this fall.
The new coach announcement matters because Season 30 will feature four coaches, and three of them have already been named. Green is also stepping into reality television judging for the first time, while the fourth coach for the upcoming season remains undisclosed.
Green’s addition comes after a busy stretch in music. He recently put out his third studio album, Don’t Mind If I Do, a 18-track release, and followed it with the music video for “If I Don’t Leave I’m Gonna Stay,” featuring Carly Pearce. For now, the show has its country entrant, its return message from Clarkson, and one last chair still waiting to be filled.
