Disney Cruise News: Disney Adventure canceled after guests boarded in Singapore

canceled the ’s four-night Singapore sailing after passengers had already boarded the ship on May 7, 2026, leaving guests stuck aboard for hours before being sent off with compensation promises. The voyage had been scheduled to run May 7-11, 2026.

Passengers said the captain first told them there were technical issues and that they would set sail soon, but by around 2 p.m. local time the next day he announced the trip would be canceled entirely. One guest who documented the scene on Reddit said it was really disappointing, especially for families traveling with children.

The cancellation turned what should have been the start of a short holiday into a long wait for instructions. Guests said they spent hours after the announcement without clear direction, with only a handful of crew members helping them while they waited. Hotel details did not arrive until 12:10 a.m., and passengers did not expect to reach their hotel until well after 1:30 a.m.

Disney later sent a letter saying the sailing could not proceed as planned and apologized for the disruption. The company said affected guests would receive a full refund, 50% off a future cruise, a complimentary hotel stay, coverage for potential flight change fees and up to $500 per stateroom for incidental expenses. A Disney spokesperson said the future cruise must be booked by and depart on or before May 31, 2027.

The offer has already raised concerns among passengers about how much time they have to use it. One guest said the 50% discount requires booking by July 31, 2026, narrowing the window for families trying to reschedule a trip. The Disney Adventure is part of Disney Cruise Line’s broader expansion plans as the company works to grow its fleet to 13 ships by 2031, and this cancellation landed at the worst possible moment for a ship meant to help carry that growth.

The immediate question now is not whether Disney will refund passengers, but whether the company can avoid a disruption like this on one of the vessels tied most closely to its expansion push.
