Disney Cruise Line canceled the May 7 sailing of the Disney Adventure after passengers had already boarded the ship in Singapore, then asked them to prepare to disembark after spending some time on board while it remained docked in port. The company said it was unable to proceed with the Disney Adventure experience from May 7-11, 2026, as planned because the ship had a mechanical issue that had not been resolved in time to begin the voyage.
A Disney Cruise Line spokesperson said the Disney Adventure remained in port in Singapore while repairs continued, and that the next sailing scheduled for May 11 was expected to depart as planned. The company said it was working directly with guests to support their travel needs and is offering impacted passengers full refunds, 50% off a future Disney cruise, a complimentary hotel stay, coverage of flight change fees and up to $500 per stateroom for other incidentals.
The disruption lands only weeks after the Disney Adventure began welcoming passengers in March, following a launch that had already been delayed by months. The 6,700-passenger ship is Disney Cruise Line’s biggest and most theme-park-like vessel yet, built for the Asian cruise market and based in Singapore. It sails three- and four-night cruises with only days at sea from the Marina Bay Cruise Centre, and earlier voyages drew reports of operational snags including missing mattresses and changes to the entertainment lineup.
For Disney, the latest setback is more than a bad day in port. The inaugural season has already been marked by delays and glitches, and this one mattered because it struck after passengers were on board, forcing the company to absorb the cost and the embarrassment while trying to keep the May 11 sailing on schedule. If that departure goes ahead as planned, it will be the first real sign that the ship can move past the start-up problems that have dogged it since March.
