Scott Probst, the younger brother of Survivor host Jeff Probst, has died, his family said Monday. Brent Probst announced on social media that Scott was no longer with them and remembered him as a great brother, son and friend.
Scott Probst worked on Survivor for several seasons, including in the camera and art departments during Jeff Probst's run on the CBS adventure series. His credits also included video games, linking him to the same entertainment world that made his brother one of television's most recognizable reality hosts.
The loss comes less than a year after the family mourned their mother, Barb, who died in November 2024. Survivor later dedicated an episode to her, calling her the biggest fan of the show and signing off with, “See you on our next adventure.”
Jeff Probst, 64, has said the show has defined much of his life. “Survivor is the greatest thing that's ever happened to me in my career and really a giant part of my life,” he said, adding that after two and a half decades on the series he kept reminding himself to be a good human, parent and partner.
Brent Probst's grief now sits alongside that long family history with the show. Scott worked behind the scenes on a franchise that first debuted in 2000, while Jeff has been tied to it for more than two decades. The family lost Barb in November and now Scott as well, leaving the host with another private blow connected to the series that has shaped his public life.
Jeff Probst married Lisa Ann Russell in 2011, and they share two children from her previous marriage to Mark-Paul Gosselaar. But the question now is not about his career or family tree. It is how the Probst family moves through a second loss in a matter of months, after one brother's work helped build the show and another's voice marked the farewell.
