CD Projekt Red has posted a job listing for Cyberpunk 2, signaling that the studio is still building out the story team for the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel. The opening is for a senior narrative designer based in the company’s Boston office, and the listing says the role will focus on narrative-driven emotional design and visual scripting.
The company said the designer should help enrich its worlds through quests and stories grounded in the characters and world around them. That framing suggests CD Projekt Red wants the sequel to lean hard on the kind of character-led writing that helped define some of its best-known work.
Paweł Sasko added to that picture on X, pointing to three quests as examples of the style the team appears to be aiming for. The quests he cited were the Bloody Baron questline from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Sinnerman from Cyberpunk 2077, and another emotionally complex, character-driven storyline. Together, they point to a narrative approach built around difficult choices and personal stakes rather than pure spectacle.
That matters because Cyberpunk 2 is still mostly a mystery. Beyond the new job listing, CD Projekt Red has released little detail about the sequel, and the main character and central story focus remain unknown. The original Cyberpunk 2077 has multiple endings, which could give the studio room to take the story in different directions without locking itself into a single path.
The tension is that the hiring push says a lot about what CD Projekt Red wants from the sequel, but almost nothing about what the game will actually be. The studio is clearly trying to expand and improve the storytelling foundation before details of the plot are ready to show. For now, the clearest answer is that Cyberpunk 2 is being built with quests and emotional narrative at the center, even if the rest of the game is still under wraps.
