The Pussycat Dolls have canceled all but one of their North America dates on the PCD Forever Tour, leaving only a WeHo Pride appearance in the Los Angeles area on June 6 on the schedule. The group said Monday afternoon that it made the decision after taking an honest look at the North American run.
The lone U.S. gig still planned gives the reunited group one stage in California even as the rest of the American outing falls away. The Dolls said they “could not think of a more meaningful place to celebrate with our fans,” adding that the LGBTQ+ community has “shown us so much love and support throughout our career” and that they are honored to join a weekend rooted in joy, pride, music and chosen family.
Nicole Scherzinger is taking part in the tour with Kimberly Wyatt and Ashley Roberts, a lineup that has been drawing attention because it includes only three out of six members. Fans had already noted that point, and in March Jessica Sutta said her MAGA political alliances were one of the reasons she was not asked to return for the tour.
The cancellation lands during a rough stretch for live music, after a recent rash of tour pullbacks tied to weak ticket sales. Concert industry observers had been predicting that the Dolls’ poorly selling reunion would be next, even as the group’s U.K. and European dates stay on track. The band said those overseas shows are still moving forward as planned, with several already sold out.
For now, the North American chapter of the tour has been pared back to one date, and that makes the June 6 Pride appearance the only U.S. stop left for a comeback that has drawn as much attention for who is missing as for who is onstage.
