Lexie Brown says she was dragged into false rumors about an affair with Klay Thompson at the same time he was linked to Megan Thee Stallion, and she wanted either Thompson, Megan or both of them to say publicly that the claims were not true. Brown said she did not know Megan at all and knew Thompson only through professional basketball, adding that she would not have considered him a friend.
Brown said the rumors spread while she was trying to concentrate on a WNBA preseason game, and by the time it ended, nobody had stepped in to say the story was a lie. She said she was the only person denying the entire situation involving her alleged involvement, while threats on her life and health kept coming in.
Brown said the abuse was not limited to her. She said threats and comments reached her family, and the pressure got so bad that she had to hire security to travel with her. Her father, former NBA player Dee Brown, said watching the false attacks on his daughter had been debilitating.
The dispute centers on rumors that Brown and Thompson had an affair amid Thompson's recent breakup with Megan. Brown later said she expected the truth to come out from Thompson or Megan's side, but felt exposed when it did not. She said she wanted someone involved to say plainly that she was not the person behind the story, especially as the backlash grew.
The timing made the episode harder to contain. Brown had to keep playing while the rumors spread around her, and she said that when the game was over, she was still the only one publicly denying her involvement. That left her carrying the fallout alone, even as the conversation around protecting Black women was unfolding without her name being defended.
Brown, a 2021 WNBA champion with the Chicago Sky, had posed for a portrait on April 22, 2026, during media day at BECU Storm Center for Basketball Performance in Seattle, Washington. Megan Thee Stallion and Thompson were photographed in New York City in July 2025, and Brown's comments now close the gap between a gossip cycle and the personal harm she says followed it. Her answer is direct: the rumors were false, and she says the cost of being left alone to deny them was fear, security and a family pulled into the fallout.
