OTW by Vans is pushing its Satoshi Nakamoto collaboration further with the Era 95 Gems, a release built around the idea that change is part of the shoe’s design. The black canvas upper is meant to tear away with wear, revealing a checkerboard pattern underneath.
The details keep that worn-in idea going. Exposed foam replaces a finished collar edge, the lacing system uses a printed lace with sandblasted bead elements and a repeating Satoshi print, and multicolor round gemstones line the collar. Black-and-yellow hand-wiped treatment runs across the sidewall, a distressed foxing stripe adds to the aged look, and a translucent crystal sole reveals the name Satoshi Nakamoto underneath.
OTW by Vans will release the Era 95 Gems on April 30 through its official platform and selected retail locations, including The Grove in Los Angeles, 5th Avenue in New York City, West End in London, Le Marais in Paris, Seongsu and Lotte World Mall in Seoul, and Shibuya Parco. The drop continues the work between OTW by Vans and Satoshi Nakamoto, and it does so by treating wear, tearing, exposure and distress not as damage but as the point of the design.
That is what sets this pair apart: the shoe is meant to change as it is worn, with each layer and finish designed to give way to what is beneath. The release on April 30 turns that concept into a retail test, as OTW by Vans brings the Era 95 Gems to its own platform and a tightly chosen list of stores across several major cities.
