Grand Theft Auto 6 is set for Nov. 19, but a new leak claims Rockstar is preparing to make reviewers jump through hoops if they want to play it before launch. The same leak, backed by a prominent leaker, says the game will not have a physical release at launch.
That matters because there has been almost no gameplay footage for Grand Theft Auto 6, only a couple of cinematic trailers, leaving little public information about one of 2026’s biggest games. The release date had originally been May 26, 2026, before changing a couple of months ago, and that shift has already fed rumors that other major titles, including Fable, may be pushed back again to avoid getting caught in its wake.
The latest claim points to a publisher trying to control what gets out before the game is on shelves, with Take-Two said to want to avoid leaks before players can buy it. If that proves true, it would mark an unusual approach even for a project already being handled with extraordinary secrecy, and it would leave critics and fans with less to go on as the final countdown to Nov. 19 begins.
For developers watching from the sidelines, the issue is no longer whether Grand Theft Auto 6 will dominate the fall. It already does. The real question is how many other 2026 releases will change course to stay out of its way.
