The Los Angeles Dodgers scratched Miguel Rojas from Tuesday night’s lineup because of a family matter and turned to Hyeseong Kim to replace him in the lineup and on the field against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Tuesday night was Kim’s third appearance for Los Angeles this season. The move came one day after the Dodgers battered Toronto 14-2, a game in which Teoscar Hernandez drove in four runs and Freddie Freeman and Shohei Ohtani combined for another four, while the Blue Jays managed only five hits.
Los Angeles entered Tuesday at 8-2, tied with the Milwaukee Brewers for the best record in the National League, and Rojas’ absence leaves a small but real opening for Kim to make a case for more time. Rojas had been hitting.263/.316/.250 across 19 at-bats this season, but the Dodgers’ depth has already forced them to shuffle without losing much momentum.

The team is trying to keep rolling after the Monday night blowout, and Kim now gets another chance to show he can hold down a spot when the lineup changes on short notice.
