A shooting in the lobby of Pauls Valley High School on the day it happened injured principal Kirk Moore, who was shot in the leg and airlifted to the hospital. The school said no students were hurt, all were safe and accounted for, and the suspect was detained.
Moore suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to the school. The Donald W. Reynolds Recreation Center said it canceled after-school activities after the pauls valley school shooting and held all Pauls Valley Public Schools buses, while the Whitebead School District said it would not be bringing its buses.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations said the gunman was a 20-year-old male and a former student. Pauls Valley High School said law enforcement responded promptly and secured the scene, and that there was no ongoing threat at the time of the report.

The response turned quickly from a school emergency into a wider transportation and activity shutdown across the area, with state and local law enforcement, including the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, still responding to the scene. The question now is not whether the school is still in danger — the school said it is not — but how a former student reached the lobby with a gun and what investigators conclude about why he came there.
