Brooke Hogan said she did not speak to her father for two years before he died in July 2025, a distance she says grew out of a family split that left her feeling shut out of his final years. The 37-year-old said Hulk Hogan once told her, “You go this way, I go that way,” and that the break hardened after she became newly married and pregnant with twins.
“I was pregnant with my twins. I was newly married. I just had to take a break,” Hogan said as she reflected on the year since her father died after suffering a heart attack at his home in Florida. She welcomed Oliver and Molly in January 2025 with her husband, former NHL player Steve Oleksy, whom she married in June 2022. Hulk Hogan was 71 when he died, and had married Sky Daily in September 2023.
Hogan said she felt powerless during the last stretch of her father’s life and doubts they would have reconciled even if he had lived longer. “I don’t know if we would have ever reconnected, even if he were alive, because of the mindset he was in,” she said. Still, she added, “I’m glad he’s out of pain. I know he was in a lot of pain,” and said, “In a weird way, I feel like I have a better relationship with him now.”
The estrangement sits inside a wider family fracture. Hogan said she and her mother, Linda Hogan, had a public falling out last year. In March 2025, Linda Hogan posted on Instagram Story that Brooke “doesn’t talk to us” and claimed she had not told the family when she got married or had her twins. Brooke Hogan pushed back on Instagram, saying she cut off her parents after being “verbally and mentally abused since childhood.”
She said the dispute deepened when Linda Hogan sent Steve Oleksy a text she described as “so cruel and so brutal” that it closed the door on reconciliation. Hogan said she is still trying to make sense of that break. “I’m always like, ‘I didn’t ask for this. Please stop bringing me into it,’” she said. “No child wants to not have their parents. It has to be serious enough to make that decision.”
Hogan, who now stars on season 7 of HGTV’s Rock the Block, said her father was difficult to reach emotionally and rarely wanted to discuss what was happening around him. “He was kind of tough. It was hard to have tender moments with him because he just didn’t want to talk about it,” she said. For Brooke Hogan, the anniversary of his death leaves no neat ending. It leaves a daughter saying she is relieved he is no longer in pain, but still separated from the family that defined much of his life.
