Virgin River is heading into season 8 without Marco Grazzini as Mike Valenzuela. The actor confirmed his exit ahead of the new season and marked the moment with a March 22 Instagram post thanking the show and its fans.
Grazzini wrote that character departures are common in a long-running series like Virgin River, saying it had been a wonderful opportunity to play Mike for six seasons. He added that he had nothing but love for the cast, crew and the show’s fans, and said he was excited for the next chapter in his career.
The timing matters because fresh episodes arrived in March 2026, keeping the series in the spotlight as it moves into season 8. Grazzini first appeared in season 2 as Mike, a friend of Jack’s from his Marines days, and he was promoted to series regular in season 3. His exit closes the run of a character who became part of the show’s core fabric over six seasons.
The response from the cast underlined that this was not a hard break. Alexandra Breckenridge reacted with a brief emotional message, while Ben Hollingsworth wrote that he had loved working with Grazzini and called him a class act, adding that the two started working together 20 years ago. Kai Bradbury also posted that he would miss him and looked ahead to the next one.
Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith has also left the door open. He said the series has so many existing relationships that Mike’s departure felt like a sort of happy ending for this chapter, but added that he could see the character returning in a more substantive role. In other words, Virgin River has said goodbye to Mike for now, not forever.
That is the real story here: the show loses one of its steadier supporting players as it enters season 8, but it has not shut the door on bringing him back when the next opening appears.
