has renamed its game from Pickmon to Pickmos, and the change is already drawing attention because the title was the project’s first clear move on Steam before release. The developer said the new name better matches its brand identity and lore, while the creatures in the game will still be collectively known as Pickmon.

Since the beginning of development, PocketGame said it had been dedicated to building a unique and profound ecological world. The studio said “mos” represents “a complete ecosystem, a grand cosmos,” and described the new title as carrying a more powerful presence and serving as a better vessel for the fantasy adventure it is building. In the same update, PocketGame said it officially changed the title of Pickmon to Pickmos.

The shift matters because Pickmos is being discussed in the same breath as another monster-catching game that has already faced scrutiny. ’s drew criticism for looking too much like a Pokémon clone, and Pickmos is now being described by observers as looking even more like a Palworld clone than Pokémon. The game also includes a character that looks a lot like ’s Link, adding to the comparison chatter around its design.

That friction is part of the point. PocketGame said it viewed its designs as acceptable as long as there was no trademark issue, a line that helps explain why the studio is willing to keep the creatures’ shared name while changing the game’s title. For now, the rebrand does not appear to answer the broader criticism around resemblance; it mainly gives PocketGame a cleaner label for a project that is already on the radar before launch.

What comes next is straightforward: Pickmos will move forward under its new name, and the real test will be whether players see the game as its own fantasy world or as another entry in a crowded imitation debate.
