Ruby Rose accused Katy Perry on Threads of sexually assaulting her at a nightclub in Melbourne, posting the allegation after Perry drew fresh attention online for a reaction video from Coachella. Perry’s representative immediately rejected the claim, calling it “categorically false” and “dangerous reckless lies.”
Rose said the alleged incident happened when she was in her early 20s, writing that Perry “didn’t kiss me” but bent down, pulled her underwear aside and rubbed her on the face until she vomited. She said, “I’m now 40,” and added that it had taken “almost 2 decades” to speak publicly. Rose also said she was not interested in filing a report.
The dispute began after Perry was at Coachella with her partner, Justin Trudeau, for Justin Bieber’s April 11 headlining set and posted a video reacting to Bieber looking up YouTube videos on stage and singing along. Perry joked, “Thank god he has Premium. I don’t wanna see no ads.” A social media graphic quoting that line prompted Rose’s post on Threads.
Rose said she had told the story publicly before but later softened it into a “funny little drunk story” because she did not know how else to handle it. She also said she kept quiet after Perry later agreed to help her get a U.S. visa. Perry’s representative responded that Rose has a “well-documented history” of making serious allegations online that have been denied by the people named.
The accusation now sits in the familiar place these cases often do: a public claim with no police report and a forceful denial from the accused side. But Rose’s post, written in blunt terms and tied to a memory she says she carried for years, has ensured the story will not stay confined to a celebrity reaction clip.
