Blizzard Entertainment said Reign of Talon - Season 2 will add a new hero, Sierra, and open a three-week event called Operation: Grand Mesa when the season launches tomorrow. The event runs through May 4 and is built around Sierra’s arrival, with curated challenges that unlock lore and a set of rewards that includes Voice Lines, an Icon, a Name Card, a rare Title, a Spray, Battle Pass Tier Skips and Loot Boxes.
Sierra is not coming in as just another fighter. Blizzard said she is the Head of Security at Watchpoint: Grand Mesa, where she defended against Talon before the current season, and that her story reaches back to the Soldier Enhancement Program, where her mother was the first test subject. Blizzard’s own framing asks “what comes next?” and points players toward the answers Sierra has spent years chasing, all the way to Jack Morrison and Gabriel Reyes. Her combat drone is called Dorothy.
That story line sits alongside a packed batch of overwatch patch notes for the season. Post Match Accolades are coming back after Play of the Game, letting players vote for a teammate or opponent who stood out before the MVP gets a dynamic, animated spotlight and the match wraps. Players can also choose to join voice chat once the victory lineup appears. Blizzard also said the Antarctica Peninsula has been reworked for cleaner engagements and smoother team pushes.
The cosmetic side is just as heavy. Soldier: 76 is getting his first Mythic skin, Volted Overdrive, with four tiers of customizable effects. Genji will get the Mythic Sumi-ichimonji Weapon Skin, which has four levels. Blizzard also said the season will include Stadium updates, a Perks mini refresh and Spring looks, though the announcement was truncated at the end and stopped at “Stadium will kee.”
The practical answer for players is simple: Season 2 starts tomorrow, Operation: Grand Mesa runs until May 4, and Sierra’s arrival is the anchor for the whole rollout. Blizzard is not just adding a hero; it is tying her to lore, rewards and a wider systems update that reaches from the map pool to the end-of-match screen.
