Netflix will release Office Romance on June 5, 2026, putting Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein at the center of a romantic comedy built around workplace rules, attraction and the fallout when both collide. The film, which was first announced in September 2024, is now in post-production and in its final run-up to release.
Lopez plays Jackie Cruz, the president and CEO of Air Cruz, whose strict anti-fraternization policy is tested when Daniel Blanchflower, a new employee played by Goldstein, arrives at the company. Ol Parker is directing the film, which was written by Goldstein and Joe Kelly, the Ted Lasso creators who wrote it specifically for Lopez. Ryder Picture Company and Nuyorican Productions are behind the project, which marks Lopez’s third major scripted movie for Netflix.
Parker said the comedy pushes the envelope slightly for what audiences might expect from a Lopez movie. Lopez said the script felt instantly special and called it a new kind of romantic comedy that really speaks to the times, describing it as “a com rom” with classic romance and modern, edgier humor. Goldstein said he has always been drawn to workplace relationships because they are inherently loaded, with people trying to behave correctly while being undone by their feelings. He also said he and Kelly saw Lopez as “the best rom-com star.”

The cast also includes Betty Gilpin, Edward James Olmos and Zuhdi Boueri. Olmos reunites with Lopez on screen as her father, Captain Jack Cruz, after playing her father in Selena in 1997. The film shot across New Jersey, mainly in Hoboken, beginning March 10, 2025 and wrapping around May 10, 2025. With the release date now set, Office Romance is moving from production story to a straight countdown: Netflix has the film lined up for a summer launch and is betting that its blend of star power, office-politics comedy and modern romance will land with viewers.
