HBO Max will bring back Euphoria on Sunday, April 12, 2026, ending a four-year hiatus with the first episode of Season 3. New installments will arrive weekly, and the show’s next chapter will push its characters five years into the future.

The euphoria cast is coming back largely intact. Sydney Sweeney returns as Cassie, Zendaya as Ruby Rue, Jacob Elordi as Nate, Maude Apatow as Lexi, Hunter Schafer as Jules, Alexa Demie as Maddy, Colman Domingo as Ali and Eric Dane as Cal. Zendaya is also serving as one of the executive producers for the new season, giving her a hand in shaping the show’s return as it moves beyond the high school years that defined its first two seasons.

The new season lands after HBO Max announced the release date last month with a trailer. That timing matters because the series has spent years in suspension while audiences waited to see whether it would return at all. Euphoria first premiered in June 2019 and quickly became one of HBO’s most discussed dramas, building a fan base around its mix of style, unease and blunt emotional stakes. It has a Tomatometer score of 87% and a Popcornmeter score of 83% on Rotten Tomatoes, and it has earned 25 Primetime Emmy nominations and won nine.

Created by Sam Levinson for HBO, Euphoria adapts the Israeli series of the same name by Ron Leshem and Daphna Levin. It began as a story about a group of high school students navigating love, trauma and addiction, but Season 3 will move those same characters into adulthood with a five-year time jump. That shift is more than a new setting. It changes the terms of the story, because the characters will now have to live with the consequences of the choices that made the show such a lightning rod in the first place.

Domingo has said Levinson keeps returning to the page, describing him as someone who writes and rewrites again and again because he is wrestling with what matters, and that he is responding immediately to the ills of the world. That pressure helps explain why the series has stayed in the cultural conversation even while it was off the air. The question now is not whether Euphoria is back. It is whether the show can carry the same intensity into adulthood and still feel like the same pulse that made it break out in 2019.
