Jack White tore through an hourlong surprise set in the Mojave tent on the second day of Coachella 2026, blowing well past the published end time on a Saturday afternoon that turned into a rock revival. The 50-year-old closed by taking off his sunglasses and finishing with “Seven Nation Army.”
White put “Fell in Love with a Girl” in the second slot, worked in “Icky Thump,” and had the crowd scream along to its chorus before seeming to end with The Raconteurs’ “Steady, As She Goes.” He then came back to land the set with “Seven Nation Army,” ending the show with his words, “Long live rock and roll.”
The set fit a pattern Coachella has leaned into since the pandemic, bringing back rock bands that once headlined the main stage for earlier slots on smaller stages. White has said he does not pre-plan his set, and the loose structure showed in the way he kept moving past the schedule without ever losing the room.

That spontaneity is part of the appeal, but it also made the surprise feel bigger than a routine festival booking. Coachella has used this kind of slot to reconnect the festival with the bands that helped define its rock era, with Weezer last year and Arcade Fire in 2022 serving as recent examples. White’s set answered the day’s question plainly: the old songs still hit, and he knows exactly how to make them land.
