Twitch backlash grows over MrBeast’s $5M Kick charity stream tactics

Jynxzi blasted MrBeast’s $5 million Twitch-era charity stream on Kick as uncomfortable, reviving criticism of donation pressure tactics.

says Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson’s $5 million charity stream left him feeling cornered, eight months after the April 2025 fundraiser turned into a marathon of donation pressure, public calls and punishment dares. The streamer described it as “one of the most uncomfortable, weird streams of all time, bro.”

Donaldson’s first-ever Kick livestream set out to raise $5 million for a philanthropic campaign aimed at bringing clean water to millions of people, and it did not end until he reached the goal. He teamed up with and , used a punishment board that added stunts at fundraising milestones, and pushed the event with a mix of spectacle and one-on-one pressure. Those punishments included being covered in snakes, being waxed on camera and oil-wrestling against a strong opponent.

The money piled up fast. Billionaire Ken Griffin donated $2.25 million, while Donaldson pulled up a list of people who had said they would give but had not done so yet, naming rapper Young Thug and an NFL player identified only as TJ. He also started phoning people during the stream in hopes of getting them to donate, turning the fundraiser into something closer to a live guilt campaign than a simple appeal for charity.

That approach came into sharp focus in a five-way call that included Jynxzi and . Paul told him, “Not to be a dick.. out of this particular group of people, bro, you've got the least liquidity!” and said he believed Jynxzi had given only a few thousand dollars, if that. Jynxzi then revealed he had donated $100,000, and Donaldson and XQC goaded Paul to match whatever amount Jynxzi had given.

Eight months later, Jynxzi said the stream was not just intense but uncomfortable in a way that stuck with him. He said the Kick group was overly aggressive and argued that anyone who donated would have their credit taken by Donaldson, who would get most of the recognition for the achievement. That complaint echoes criticism Nick Eh raised eight months ago about Donaldson’s pressure on other creators, and it overlaps with what XQC said after the event: that he was not comfortable with how Donaldson handled the livestream, that the methods were “too much” and “not okay,” and that Donaldson did not merely encourage donations but pestered people repeatedly.

The fundraiser succeeded on its own terms, but the afterimage is harder to clear. Donaldson got the $5 million for the clean-water campaign, yet the way he got there left fellow creators questioning whether the charity drive crossed a line from persuasion into public pressure. For Jynxzi, who is now the second-most active subscriber on as of April 2026, the stream is still remembered less for the cause than for how it felt to be inside it.
