Jon Jones says he is done fighting again. In a now-viral video from Red Corner MMA, the former UFC two-division champion said, “My gloves are hung up, I’m chilling these days,” and added, “You got business, Jon Jones - no more fighting Jon Jones.”
The timing matters because Jones had spent months tied to talk of a return, and those talks had revolved around Tom Aspinall and Alex Pereira before falling through. Jones also wrote on March 21 that he was “ready, willing and physically able to step in,” but said the UFC would not go above $15m, adding, “I felt like our fight was worth more.”
That leaves the sport with a familiar ending and a familiar gap. Jones last returned to the promotion in Nov. 2024, and the latest comments make it sound as if the negotiations did not just stall; they collapsed into retirement talk. Jones has been vocal about feeling mistreated by the UFC in negotiations, and this new declaration hardens that stance into a final-sounding answer.

Dana White, speaking after UFC 326, said Jones was never in his mind to fight at the White House and blamed the situation on the champion’s body. “Some guy with Meta Glasses filmed him talking about his hips - that his hips are so bad,” White said. “And I don't know if you guys saw that flag football game where he can barely run.” He added, “Jon Jones retired because of his hips,” and said, “He's got arthritis in his hips.” White also said, “Apparently, doctors say he should have a hip replacement.”

White said the full story of what happened may never be fully revealed. But Jones has now said enough to settle the immediate question: the gloves are up, the comeback is off, and the UFC’s most complicated star has stepped away again after the fights that might have brought him back never got done.
