Swae Lee will headline SUNY Cortland’s annual Spring Fling concert on Saturday, May 2, bringing the Grammy-nominated rapper to Park Center Alumni Arena for an 18-and-over show that starts with doors at 7 p.m. SoFaygo is set to perform at 8 p.m., and Swae Lee will take the stage at 9 p.m.
Tickets for SUNY Cortland students go on sale at midnight on Monday, April 13, when each student can buy one ticket. More tickets will become available at midnight on Monday, April 20, when students can purchase additional tickets and the general public can also buy. The timing gives students first access before the broader sale opens.
The booking leans on the reach Swae Lee has built across hip-hop and pop. He first gained popularity as one half of Rae Sremmurd, the duo behind hits including “No Flex Zone,” “No Type” and “Black Beatles,” the 2016 chart-topper that helped fuel the Mannequin Challenge on social media. As a solo artist, Lee drew universal acclaim for “Sunflower” with Post Malone in 2018, a collaboration that reached No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Top 100 chart, stayed in the top 10 for 33 weeks and became the first-ever double-diamond certified single by the Recording Industry Association of America.
That record helps explain why SUNY Cortland is treating Spring Fling as more than a campus concert. Lee has earned Grammy Award nominations for three singles, collaborated with Madonna, Ellie Goulding, Drake, French Montana, Travis Scott and Wiz Khalifa, and averages nearly 40 million monthly listeners on Spotify. For a student event built around a marquee name, the draw is not just his past chart success but the scale of the audience he still commands.
The only real friction is access. Students get first crack at a single ticket before the general public sale begins, and the concert is limited to attendees who are at least 18 years old. That makes the April 13 and April 20 midnight on-sale times the crucial dates to watch for anyone hoping to be in the arena when Swae Lee comes on at 9 p.m.
