Sundog says it will release the first trailer for Ibru in a week, offering the first public look at a role-playing game built around Olga Tokarczuk's novel Anna In the Tombs of the World. The studio says the trailer will show what the game world looks like and comes as the project moves through a development plan that has been in place for almost four years.
That first glimpse matters because Ibru is not just another literary adaptation. Sundog is building the game with researchers from the University of SWPS and says it is preparing a new mechanism that will let the character's traits and behavior be shaped live, with the game changing depending on how the player behaves, speaks and makes decisions.
The project has also drawn attention because of the money behind it. Sundog received nearly 17 million złoty in funding from the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development, and PARP has paid the studio nearly 6.2 million złoty so far, including more than 5.5 million złoty as an advance and more than 608,000 złoty as reimbursement. The deadline for settling the advance expires in August 2026, and under the current schedule the company is to submit payment applications for more than 4.4 million złoty in 2026.
Carlos Castanon said the trailer is coming next week and will show what the world of the game looks like, adding that he hopes users like it and that people will talk about the project even more. Aleksandra Bieluk said the team is the specialist group responsible for delivering the promised product and needs time to do that, because the goal is to make a very good game, not just turn the book into images.
The public discussion around Ibru intensified after reports that Tokarczuk left Sundog's supervisory board. Sundog says she left that board but did not leave the company, and her son still works on the project. For now, the test is simple: whether next week's trailer shows a game that justifies the funding, the wait and the literary name attached to it.
