Netflix has confirmed that Emily in Paris season 6 will film in Greece and Monaco, sending Emily Cooper far beyond the streets of Paris after a season 5 finale that left her future with Gabriel hanging in the air. The new run does not yet have a release date.
The move comes after season 5 debuted at number two on Netflix's top 10 shows, drawing 13.5 million views in its first four days. That kind of start reinforces the show's staying power even as its critics have not been unanimous, with season 5 holding a 70% Rotten Tomatoes score compared with 58% for season 2.
For Emily, the new setting points straight back to the romance that has driven much of the series. Season 5 ended with Gabriel asking her to join him in Greece, and season 6 is likely to follow her attempt to rekindle their on-and-off relationship. Darren Star has said he cannot imagine the series without Gabriel and has called him Emily's big love.

The setting shift also fits the show's pattern of moving well past its title city. Emily in Paris follows marketing executive Emily Cooper, played by Lily Collins, who left Chicago for Paris to bring an American perspective to a French marketing firm. Over the years, the series has also taken viewers to Rome, Venice, Saint-Tropez and Megève, and season 5 is now streaming on Netflix.
Gabriel's new job takes him to Greece, which ties the next chapter of the story to the same place where Emily was last invited to follow him. Minnie Driver will also return in season 6, while Mindy has chosen to stay with Nico after accepting his proposal even as she still has feelings for Alfie. That mix leaves the show with one clean answer and one unresolved pull: Gabriel is not going away, and Emily's connection to him remains the engine that will drive the next season.
