Judd Apatow’s film Comeback King, starring Glen Powell, is filming now in the Savannah, Claxton and Macon areas, and the production is looking for local people to fill background and stand-in roles. Casting company Catrett Casting & Associates said it is seeking adults with vehicles, children for a charity-event scene, and two stand-ins for ongoing work across the shoot.
The most specific call is for adults 18 and older who own pickup trucks, SUVs or cars to appear on camera with their vehicles in Claxton on April 30 and May 1. Those jobs pay $182 for 12 hours plus a $35 vehicle bump. Children ages 6 to 17 of all ethnicities are also being sought to portray attendees at a charity event in Savannah on April 20 and April 21, with pay set at $120 for eight hours.
In addition, the production is casting a Greek male stand-in between 5-foot-5 and 5-foot-9 for dates from May 7 to June 17 in Savannah and Macon. A separate stand-in role is open for an Asian male of similar height, with multiple filming dates between April and June in Savannah and Macon, and that job pays $196 for 12 hours per day. Applicants must complete role-specific forms to be considered, and new applicants must also register with the casting company’s database; both steps are required before anyone can be hired.
Georgia has become one of the nation’s busiest filming hubs in recent years, and productions there frequently turn to local residents for background roles. This round of casting shows how the work reaches beyond stars and crew, pulling in children, drivers and stand-ins from the same towns where the cameras are rolling. For residents in the path of the production, the next step is simple: apply, register and wait to see whether their car, their height or their schedule fits what the film needs.
