Simone Biles marked her third wedding anniversary with Jonathan Owens on Wednesday by posting six photos from their wedding in Mexico on Instagram. The images showed the couple slicing their wedding cake, kissing with fireworks behind them and dancing together.
In her caption, Biles wrote that it was “3 years down, forever to go” and called Owens her husband, adding that the photos were “the epitome of our relationship” and that being in love with him was “so fun.” The post drew congratulations from Adelaine Morin, G-Eazy, Madison Shock, Mikaela Shiffrin, Zoe Miller and Team USA.
Biles and Owens started dating in 2020 after meeting on the dating app Raya. They got engaged in February 2022 and had an intimate courthouse wedding 14 months later, before Wednesday’s anniversary post put their relationship back in the spotlight.
The celebration also comes during a period of change for Owens, a veteran NFL safety who signed a one-year deal with the Indianapolis Colts after spending two years with the Chicago Bears. Biles was at Bears games multiple times last season, underscoring how often the two have publicly supported each other as their careers have moved in different directions.
For Biles, the anniversary arrives while one of the biggest questions in sports still hangs over her future: she has yet to say whether she will compete at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. Whatever comes next for the seven-time Olympic gold medalist, Wednesday’s post showed that her personal life remains as visible as her competitive one.
