Downtown Cleveland is bracing for a crush of visitors on Saturday as thousands head in for sporting events, concerts and graduations, and city parking rules will tighten at 10 a.m. and stay in place through midnight.

The move will bring Downtown Special Events Zones into effect, with on-street parking set at $8 an hour and allowed only temporarily starting two hours before events and lasting through the end of the event or until 10 p.m., whichever comes first.

To absorb some of the load, complimentary parking will be available in the CSU Central, East, West and Prospect parking garages until 5 p.m., with ADA parking in the South Garage. The answer to what makes Saturday different is simple: too many major events are landing on the same calendar day in the same part of the city. The special event parking zones are a temporary measure built to match that pressure, and anyone heading for zach bryan cleveland or the other downtown draws will need to plan around the restrictions before they get there.
