Mikayla Matthews shut down claims on Thursday, May 6, that she was not supporting Taylor Frankie Paul and Jessi Draper, brushing off a fan’s criticism with a blunt, “Interesting…”
The exchange unfolded after a follower pointed to an Instagram post about MomTok members not showing support for Paul and Draper. Matthews, 26, answered the comment with, “Because I’m fed up.” She then laid out a sharper response: “Gotta love a biased double standard 🙃 I’d genuinely love to see how you’d handle being in the same position we’re in.”
Matthews did not stop there. “If you feel entitled to comment on our life, don’t be surprised when we respond,” she wrote. “I’m not someone who switches up my opinions just to save face online. If you don’t like it, feel free to scroll instead of leaving a snide comment on a post about me ❤️.”
The reaction lands in the middle of a stretch of public scrutiny for the women around MomTok. Paul, 31, spent weeks dealing with court appearances connected to her ex, Dakota Mortensen, after a domestic violence investigation stemming from incidents in February. On April 14, Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill’s office said she would not be charged after reviewing reports and evidence submitted by the Draper Police Department and West Jordan Police Department. Paul later said she cried when she got the news.
Draper, 33, has also been speaking publicly about her private life. She discussed her divorce from estranged husband Jordan Ngatikaura on an episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, saying she had told him “in the last year, actually a few different times, that I wanted to get divorced.” She added that she had ended the relationship and expected the split, but said Ngatikaura “blindsided me and filed because he wanted the headline first.”
Matthews has been candid about her own marriage struggles with husband Jace Terry and about a chronic illness that causes skin flare-ups, which gives her response extra weight with viewers who have followed the cast’s personal lives closely. The friction around support for Paul and Draper also comes as the broader Taylor Frankie Paul conversation continues to spill into TV chatter, including the separate Taylor Frankie Paul Bachelorette Update: ABC Still Unsure About Season 22 coverage and the report that The Bachelorette 2026 pulled after Taylor Frankie Paul video surfaces.
For now, Matthews has made one thing clear: she is not backing away from the fight over who showed up for whom. In a world where every post becomes a verdict, her message was that she is done letting strangers assign the story for her.
