Barbara Eden marked Easter Sunday with a bright Instagram post that put her and husband Jon Eicholtz in matching bunny ears. The 94-year-old actress shared the photo on April 5, writing, “Happy Easter from us bunnies!” and adding, “We hope it's been beautiful and full of joy!”
The image arrived just weeks after Eden and Eicholtz marked their 34th wedding anniversary, a reminder that the couple she married in 1991 still appears together in public with the same easy warmth. It also followed her recent attendance at a screening of her 1963 film The Yellow Canary, underscoring how often she still returns to the work that made her famous.
Eden’s name remains tied most closely to I Dream of Jeannie, the NBC comedy that ran from 1965 to 1970 and starred Larry Hagman, Hayden Rorke, Billy Daily and Emmaline Henry. In September, she marked the series’ 60th anniversary on Instagram and wrote that “the amount of happiness and warmth” she feels when she thinks about Jeannie is “immeasurable.” She called working with the cast “a magical time,” and said she never expected the character to stay with her “right over my shoulder after all these years.”
That is the part of Eden’s story that still matters: the role did stick, but not as a burden. She has described Jeannie as “a blessing,” said she was fortunate the character was one “stuck” with, and added that she loves how much Jeannie has meant to so many for so long. If the Easter post showed anything beyond a holiday greeting, it was that Barbara Eden is still meeting the public where it has always known her — with a smile, a joke and a character that never really left.
