Valdez, the high-priced lefty the Tigers brought in as a free-agent acquisition, will be making his third start at 7:40 p.m. ET against . Detroit enters with Valdez at 1-0 and a 0.75 ERA, while Ober is listed at 0-0 with a 6.75 ERA.

The loss left Detroit with an offense that has been as robust as a wet noodle, a flat stretch that has matched the team’s slide through the first two games of the series. The Tigers have not only dropped three in a row, they now need Wednesday night to keep the matchup from slipping further out of reach.
