Gabriel Bortoleto was disqualified from Saturday's sprint race at Miami International Autodrome after finishing 11th, leaving him scored 22nd of 22 drivers for a technical breach tied to engine intake air pressure.
The car exceeded the maximum limit of 4.8 barA, violating Article C5.3.2 of the FIA F1 Technical Regulations. The sprint ran 19 laps around the 19-turn, 3.363-mile temporary street circuit in Miami Gardens, Florida, and the ruling promoted each of the nine drivers who finished behind Bortoleto, plus the two who did not start, by one position.
The penalty carried no championship impact because only the top eight drivers score in sprint races. McLaren's Lando Norris won from pole and took eight points, while Bortoleto's result was erased from the order without changing either the driver standings or the constructor standings.
Bortoleto is set to start last on the 22-car grid for Sunday's 57-lap Miami Grand Prix, which was moved up from 4:00 p.m. ET to 1:00 p.m. ET because of a threat of bad weather. For him, the damage was done in a few post-race minutes; for the field, the sprint reshuffle barely moved the table.
